Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa
Overview
From 1 September 2022, applicants for the "Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa" will have to submit their application and documents online with the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) at https://ltr.boi.go.th/. BOI will consider all required documents and make approvals. Once approved by BOI, applicants in South Africa and Embassy’s accredited countries shall apply for the LTR visa with the qualified visa processing service companies of the Royal Thai Embassy.
Requesting LRT Visa need to be submitted to BOI
After receiving approval letter from BOI, applicants can submit Visa application as follows;
Documents Requirement
- 1. Visa Application form(s) and photograph(s): two signed and completed Visa Application Forms dated at least 10 working days before the intended date of travel (https://image.mfa.go.th/mfa/0/3Vsp0C7LTs/-_form_Application_visa.pdf), as well as two recent photograph(s) (size 2x2 inch).
- 2. Passport (valid for no less than 6 months) to be submitted with a copy of the Passport
- 3. Copy of ID Document other than Passport (for example ID Card or Driver License)
- 4. Copy of Permanent Residence or other permit (if not a national of the country of residence)
- 5. All documents which have been submitted to the BOI
- 6. Approval letter from BOI
- 7. A copy of round trip flight ticket(s).
- 8. For family members traveling together: documents showing family relations such as a copy of birth certificate or marriage certificate must be submitted.
- 9. Copy of Yellow fever vaccination card – for applicants from or have travelled to yellow fever infected areas.
- 10. Visa Application Fee (not include visa processing company’s fee) : ZAR30,000
- 11. Other documents: as may be requested by Consular officers in addition to the documents above. Please note that Consular officers reserve the right to require additional documents, or an interview with the applicant, as deemed necessary, without prior notice.
* Document issued by Non-Thai Authorities MUST be certified by Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) and/or the foreign Embassy prior to submission

Remark: Applicant from Nigeria must submit letter from employer and certificate of Clearance issued by the National Drug Law Enfrocement Agency of Nigeria (NDLEA) that is certified by Nigerian Misistry of Foreign Affairs and Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja
**The Royal Thai Embassy reserves the right to reject any visa application with insufficient documents or if the reasons given are not fully supported. The visa fee is nonrefundable**
